A FAVOURABLE TERROIR

On the edges of Roc de Saint-Émilion, the vines of Closerie du Pelan thrive on a mixed clay-limestone soil, with Fronsac molasse predominating in certain plots, while fossil-rich limestone prevails in others. The altitude varies between 50 and 80 metres.

RESPECT FOR NATURE

The identity of Closerie du Pelan is shaped by the native yeasts present on our berries and gentle extraction without inputs. Fermentation takes place in open foudres with cap-punching extraction, followed by maturing on lees for 18 months in used barrels. The wine is neither fined nor filtered, and is low in sulphur.

The average age of the vines is around 30 years.

Red: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
White: 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
